TAMTAM’s theatre performances are crossovers between theatre and visual arts. Therefore it is not surprising that Gérard Schiphorst and Marije van der Sande also make visual art with found objects. Object art. Often their visual works have high level of theatricality where the performance has come to a standstill and goes on in the imagination of the viewer. The beauty of the perishable, the talents of the discarded, these are not only the ingredients of the performances but also the starting point of the visual work. It changes the perception of the viewer of the worthless things, first ignored because they were lying in the gutter or hidden in the back of a drawer.

On the occasion of TAMTAM’s 45th anniversary, a number of works will be on display in the MIMIK theatre in Deventer, most of which were made especially for this exhibition.
