For the video project Weerlicht, Gérard Schiphorst made the video: (Never forget your) ROOTS.
Weerlicht was a light route of projections in the city center of Deventer, on display from 4 to 7 November 2021
This film was inspired by a root of an excavated bush found in the forest. Filmed in close-up and superimposed over each other, the whimsical branches form an abstract interplay of lines.
A reminder that without our roots we are nothing.
The original root
The film was projected from the outside on the windows of Theater MIMIK for four evenings.
Viewers could also listen to the accompanying music on their smartphone via a QR code.
Weerlicht was a co-production of De Nieuwe Oost pop and Kunstenlab, in collaboration with MIMIK, De Perifer, NachtExpo and Burgerweeshuis.
